Establishment and Application of River Warning Stages
The rainfalls resulted from typhoon and torrential rain can heavily inflict Taiwan during the flood season, and usually cause huge losses of lives and properties. Therefore, to set up early warning systems in the important river reaches and to issue the early warning information of the floods become an important and urgent subject. DPWE received the grant from the Water Resources Agency, Ministry of Economic Affairs to set up the warning stages of the central government controlled rivers, and to compile the Guideline of Establishment and Review of River Warning Stages. The guideline provides the technical procedures for reviewing, revising, and adding warning stages after each typhoon or large torrential rain event.
